Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Port Klang, Malaysia. This Individual is responsible for supporting the Finance & Accounts Manager in financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage financial transactions, financial reports (AP, AR , GL & Cash Management), accounting records, bank reconciliations, and petty cash activities.
  • Maintain employee records, support payroll processing, and coordinate employee updates with social security authorities.
  • Prepare and manage tax invoices through the government e-invoicing system and ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Support procurement and purchasing systems by reviewing supplier pricing, travel claims, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with departments to maintain internal controls, report financial issues, and support any other duties as delegated by the Financial Controller, Finance & Accounts Manager and General Manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE


Required Competencies

  • Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate
  • Computer Literate (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Good timekeeping. (Ability to work with tight deadlines and have a sense of urgency)
  • Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal
  • Effective interpersonal skills (Positive attitude, pleasant, hardworking, trustworthy, and matured and able to maintain confidentiality at all times)
  • Flexible and ability to adapt and adopt to company’s values and culture, as well as fast changes within the company


Required Work Experience

  • Prior experience of HR and financial accounting principles would be an advantage


Required Qualifications

  • Accounting Degree or an equivalent Qualification


Required Languages

  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia (reading, writing and speaking)
