Interaction with people can be a scary thing to do. It's like a battlefield for some people who are in the introvert category but it's something you have to do if someone new is in town. You notice that someone is sitting at Melissa's former desk, so what should you do? Obviously you have to talk with that person and make him/her feel welcome right? They're new in the office and probably nervous too, so try your best to make them at ease.

These are some lines that you have to avoid and not say it out loud to your new colleagues. Avoid it at all costs!

1. "I just wondering, do you want to go on a date?"

Pervert alert! It's totally inappropriate to start your conversation with this line. Just because that person is new, it doesn't give you 'green light' to use your pickup lines. It's going to be an awkward situation for you both. I repeat, it's going to be an awkward situation for you both.

2. "Let me give you some advice. Don't hang out with Sally, Aminah, Maria etc"

We all know that you're a senior staff. Even if you so, you don't have a valid reason to tell people around the list of all person that you hate in the office. You want to create a pack on hating the same people? Come on guys, give the new staff some space, she/he might want to get to know that person before deciding to hate or not.

3. "I hate this place. Our boss is cuckoo, everything is awful"

It's not a good idea to trash the higher ups to the new person. You don't know yet his/her loyalty towards the company, who knows he/she favours your boss and tell the higher ups about your attitude. Don't trust people easily and don't be easy on open up to stranger.

4. "New here? Well, good luck mate"

There's nothing wrong to wish someone good luck, but it must be a sincere and genuine wishing. Don't be cynical and using a sarcasm tone, that's so mean So please don't do it, that's not cool at all.

5. "Oh boy, you've made a terrible decision"

Same as wishing someone good luck with cynical tone, you don't have the right to tell someone that they have made a terrible decision. Just because you hate your job, it doesn't mean the whole company have to hate their job too. It's personal choice, so let them experience it and decide  later.

6. "So how much you make here?"

It's unprofessional to ask people around how much they earn. It's a general knowledge of not asking people about their salary. It's rude to start the conversation by asking about salary.

7. "So what happened in your previous company? You get fired?"

Again, do we need to give a reason why it's rude to ask this question? You have to know the limit of privacy and don't cross the line. It's personal matter and who knows maybe someday they will tell you, but it takes time.
