Job Description

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (SPM/'O' Level) is required for this entry-level position.

  • Basic understanding of dental assisting principles and procedures is a plus.

  • Willingness to learn and perform patient care duties, including assisting the dentist during treatments and providing post-operative instructions.

  • Ability to follow strict sterilization and infection control protocols to maintain a safe clinical environment.

  • Familiarity with basic record-keeping and patient charting, or a strong aptitude for learning these tasks.

  • Competence in general office administration duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient inquiries, and maintaining a tidy reception area.

  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential for effective communication with patients and colleagues.

  • Mandarin language skills are highly desirable for communicating with a diverse patient base.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including examinations and simple procedures.

  • Prepare patients for treatment by seating them, draping them with bibs, and ensuring their comfort.

  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms according to established protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.

  • Provide post-operative care instructions to patients and assist with scheduling follow-up appointments.

  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and billing information.

  • Manage inventory of dental supplies, order new stock as needed, and ensure proper storage.

  • Perform basic office administration tasks such as answering phones, managing patient check-ins and check-outs, and processing payments.

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide chairside assistance during procedures, anticipating the dentist's needs.

  • Clean and disinfect the dental operatory between patients, ensuring all surfaces and equipment are properly sanitized.
