Junior Lawyer - Shazlin Najwa & Partners

Requirement:

1. ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B): Must possess a degree recognized by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB).

- Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP): Required for graduates from foreign or non-recognized universities.

- Academic Results: Some firms require a minimum CGPA of 3.4 and strong SPM results.

2. PUPILLAGE / CHAMBERING

- Duration of 9 Months: Mandatory training under the supervision of a qualified lawyer.

- Process: Filing of Form 1 and Form 2 to commence pupillage.

- Experience: Candidates must demonstrate initiative, willingness to learn, and adaptability.

3. TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Work Experience: 1–3 years of experience is an added advantage.

- Drafting Skills: Ability to draft commercial contracts and legal documents.

- Legal Research: Strong legal research and problem-solving skills.

- IT Literacy: Proficient in MS Office and online legal research tools.

4. SOFT SKILLS

- Communication: Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).

- Ability to Work Under Pressure: Capable of handling workload and tight deadlines.

- Independence: Able to manage files and cases independently.

- Professional Ethics: High integrity, discipline, and professionalism.

5. ADMISSION

- Malaysian Bar: Upon completion of pupillage, candidates will be admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor.

Job Descriptions:

1. Legal Work & Case Management

  • Assist in handling litigation and/or corporate files from commencement to completion
  • Prepare, draft, and review legal documents including:
  • Agreements and contracts
  • Cause papers, pleadings, affidavits, submissions
  • Legal correspondence and notices
  • Conduct legal research and provide well-reasoned legal opinions
  • Ensure all court filings and documentation comply with procedural requirements
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of documents

2. Court & Client Engagement

  • Attend court proceedings, case management, and hearings (where required)
  • Assist senior lawyers during trials and legal proceedings
  • Attend client meetings, take instructions, and provide updates
  • Liaise with clients, court officers, government bodies, and external parties

3. Documentation & Administration

  • Maintain proper filing systems (physical and digital) for all case files
  • Prepare status reports and updates on ongoing matters
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and documentation accuracy
  • Handle administrative legal tasks as required

4. Firm Support & Business Development

  • Assist in preparing proposals, legal write-ups, or presentations
  • Participate in networking, client engagement, and business development activities
  • Support internal knowledge sharing and team collaboration

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: RM2,800.00 per month
