About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large-scale hospital construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned construction professional with extensive healthcare project experience to oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning and execution through commissioning and handover.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and in-depth knowledge of hospital-specific construction requirements, systems, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Initiation
- Lead project planning activities including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Develop comprehensive project execution plans, work breakdown structures (WBS), project timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, and stakeholders to finalize designs and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian building codes, healthcare regulations, and authority requirements, including CCC, BOMBA, DOSH, and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines.
Project Execution & Site Management
- Oversee daily construction activities and site operations.
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project teams.
- Ensure all construction works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Monitor procurement activities for materials, equipment, and services.
Cost Management & Budget Control
- Develop and manage project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures.
- Review variation orders, contractor claims, and progress payment certifications.
- Collaborate closely with quantity surveyors to ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting.
Schedule Management
- Monitor and maintain the master construction schedule.
- Track project milestones, progress, risks, and potential delays.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans to ensure timely project completion.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all construction works meet required quality standards and healthcare-specific requirements.
- Implement QA/QC procedures, inspections, and testing programs.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian Standards (MS), CIDB requirements, and hospital design standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies for approvals, inspections, and certifications.
- Provide regular project status updates and reports to senior management.
- Manage client expectations and resolve project issues effectively.
Risk Management
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor contractual, operational, financial, and construction-related risks.
- Maintain proper project documentation and records.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Lead testing and commissioning activities for hospital systems, including:
- Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems
- Medical Gas Systems
- HVAC Systems
- Clean Rooms and Critical Care Facilities
- Ensure systems meet operational and healthcare compliance standards.
- Manage defect rectification, final inspections, and project handover.
- Ensure completion of as-built drawings, operation & maintenance manuals, warranties, and project close-out documentation.
Requirements Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing hospital construction projects.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale healthcare developments from inception to completion.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong project planning, coordination, administration, and documentation skills.
- In-depth understanding of hospital-specific construction systems and operational requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
- Fluent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia (spoken and written).
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
