The Welder Associate is responsible for performing TIG (GTAW) welding operations on stainless steel and other high-purity materials used in semiconductor gas and chemical delivery systems . This role requires precision welding in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions, ensuring the highest quality standards for products used in the semiconductor industry.
Key Responsibilities1. Welding Operations
- Set up and operate GTAW (TIG) welding machines and support equipment
- Set up and operate rotary tables for tube and pipe welding
- Perform TIG welding of various materials including stainless steel, Kovar, and copper
- Perform tasks such as Bending, Tacking, Tweaking, and Leak-Testing
- Execute all of Ichor's Standard Operating Procedures as they pertain to manufacturing-related duties
- Interpret and follow established weld schedules (WPS, PQR)
2. Quality Assurance & Inspection
- Process and inspect work in accordance with engineering prints and drawings
- Use approved hand gauges (calipers, micrometers, borescopes) to inspect component quality
- Perform helium leak testing of assemblies to ensure integrity
- Conduct visual inspections of welds and braze joints
3. Blueprint & Documentation
- Study prints, drawings and specifications to complete finished welds and lay out tasks
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret welding symbols
- Document all work in a clear, accurate, and concise manner
4. Equipment & Workspace Maintenance
- Perform daily maintenance on welding machines and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
5. Safety & Compliance
- Understand and execute Ichor's safety rules and regulations
- Prevent unsafe set-ups, operations, or acts that may cause injury
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
- Observe all safety standards and maintain a secure, safe, clean, and healthy work environment
Key Requirements
- Minimum SPM or equivalent
- Successful completion of a 2-year professional trade program in Welding Technology or equivalent
- Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Welding fields preferred
Experience
- 2+ years of work experience performing TIG welding of stainless steel
- Experience in high-purity environments or clean-room environments is highly preferred
- Less experience acceptable with a Welding Technology degree (or currently enrolled)
- 1-2 years of experience in welding and parts assembly is an added advantage
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in TIG (GTAW) welding of stainless steel and other high-purity materials
- Ability to set up components for welding according to specifications
- Ability to operate hand and power tools to prepare parts
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Basic math and blueprint reading skills

Pay: RM1,900.00 - RM2,300.00 per month
