Role Description The Director of Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This role oversees all engineering operations, including building systems, preventive and corrective maintenance, safety and compliance, and energy management, ensuring that the hotel’s facilities operate efficiently and reliably. The Director of Engineering leads, coaches, and develops the engineering team, manages budgets and capital projects, and collaborates with other departments to support guest satisfaction, sustainability initiatives, and operational excellence. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and prioritizing maintenance activities, coordinating external vendors and contractors, monitoring system performance, and implementing improvements to align with the hotel’s GSTC-certified sustainability standards. The role also requires maintaining regulatory compliance, developing engineering policies and procedures, and preparing reports for senior leadership on asset condition, risks, and long-term

planning.


Qualifications

  • Strong Engineering Management skills, including oversight of building systems, maintenance programs, and technical operations.
  • Proven Team Leadership abilities to guide, mentor, and develop a diverse engineering workforce and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in Project Management for facility upgrades, capital improvement projects, and implementation of sustainability-focused initiatives.
  • Relevant Integration experience, coordinating multiple technical systems and working effectively with internal teams and external service providers.
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering, or a related field; professional certifications in facilities or energy management are an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hotel or large-building operations, regulatory and safety standards, and sustainable building practices.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and reporting skills, with the ability to make data-informed decisions and manage vendor relationships.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with senior management.
  • Prior leadership experience in hospitality, commercial property, or similar environments is highly beneficial.
