Your Day to Day

voco Orchard Singapore is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Chief Steward to be part of our team. As Assistant Chef Steward, you are responsible for supervising the Kitchen Stewards and supporting the Back of House team to deliver an excellent Guest and Host experience. The Assistant Chef Steward will also be required to coordinate other kitchen responsibilities, making sure Back of House areas are maintained, and ensure that health and safety are top priorities. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Supervise the Kitchen Stewards and ensuring high standards
• Support the stewarding team in training and development
• Coordinate the daily pot-wash and dish wash responsibilities
• Ensure Back of House areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards and cleaning schedules are followed and completed
• Observe chemical safe handling guidelines when handling hazardous substances and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety requirements
• Report faults, misused or damaged equipment issues to the General/Hotel Manager, Executive Chef, and/or Chief Engineer
• Ensure the correct personal protective equipment is in place and guidelines are adhered to
• Ensure machinery is operated properly, efficiently, safely and in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations
• Assist in the location, movement and storage of operational equipment
• Assist in the stock take of equipment and other items as required
• Ensure team members adhere to all Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations
• Carry out any other reasonable task set by the supervisor

What we need from you

• Secondary school education equivalent or above.
• At least 5 years of working experience in Stewarding/Cleaning and 2 years as a Stewarding Supervisor in an international hotel chain.
• Good working knowledge of HACCP and hygiene procedures
• Works well in stressful situations, remains calm under pressure and able to think on his feet.
• Physical stamina to perform required housekeeping duties.
• Commitment to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Great communication skills, ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflect highly on the hotel, the brand and the company.
