About the Role

As a Data & AI Engineering Director, you will provide strategic, technical, and commercial leadership across our Data & AI practice.

We are looking for a versatile leader who can operate across the intersection of Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, AI/ML, Cloud, and Data Strategy. You do not need to come from one specific technical discipline; what matters is your ability to understand the broader Data & AI landscape, lead multidisciplinary teams, and connect technology with real business needs.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead complex Data & AI projects and transformation programmes, ensuring strong business outcomes and delivery excellence.
• Advise senior clients on Data & AI strategy, use cases, technology choices, and transformation roadmaps.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, AI/ML, and related disciplines.
• Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and act as a strategic advisor on Data & AI topics.
• Translate complex business challenges into practical, scalable Data & AI solutions.
• Drive innovation and adoption of emerging capabilities, including Generative AI, Machine Learning, modern data platforms, and Cloud technologies.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, pitches, solution design, account growth, and development of new offerings.
• Mentor and develop Data & AI talent while strengthening our technical and consulting capabilities.
• Contribute to Artefact's thought leadership and Data & AI practice development.

What We Are Looking For

• 8+ years of relevant experience across Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, AI/ML, Data Strategy, Technology Consulting, or related fields.
• Proven experience leading complex Data & AI projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of the broader Data & AI ecosystem, with deeper expertise in one or more relevant areas.
• Strong client-facing experience, including engagement with senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Ability to connect technical solutions with business challenges and communicate complex topics clearly.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and commercial skills.
• Experience contributing to business development, proposals, client growth, or development of new Data & AI offerings.

What Would Give You an Advantage

• Experience in consulting or professional services.
• Experience building or scaling a Data, Analytics, AI, or technology practice.
• Exposure to Generative AI and industrialisation of AI solutions.
• Experience with major Cloud and data ecosystems such as GCP, AWS, Azure, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Experience leading regional or multicultural teams.
• Experience across multiple industries or complex enterprise environments.
