Why this role exists

************* is an innovation and entrepreneurship platform working with universities and early stage founders across Asia Pacific. Our products include a community platform serving university spaces across Asia, Sherpa, our AI powered business validation tool, and a course builder for partner educators.

We have built quickly, and quickly leaves a residue. Patterns drift, friction accumulates, and screens get designed one at a time rather than as a system. The products work and real cohorts use them daily, which is exactly why the design debt now costs us something measurable: a student who bounces during onboarding is a student the programme never reaches.

This role exists to name that debt precisely, fix what matters most, and put a system in place so it stops accumulating. It starts as a three to six month contract and is designed to become the permanent design lead seat.

What you will work on

The audit. This is where you start. Go through the current platform and document the design flaws, inconsistencies and friction points. Then propose the fixes and help us prioritise them. We want the uncomfortable version, not the diplomatic one.

Live design for v2.1 Flows and screens for features shipping on our v2.1 webapp, including the course builder and the Sherpa validation journeys.

Onboarding and signup Improve the experience for new university cohorts. First impressions decide whether a student stays, and at cohort scale that difference compounds fast.

UX copy Write and test the words alongside the screens. In a product that challenges founders on their assumptions, tone carries as much weight as layout.

The component library Build and maintain reusable components so the product stays consistent as it grows, and so the next designer inherits a system rather than a folder of screens.

What we are looking for

• Five years or more in product design, with a portfolio that shows product thinking rather than only polished visuals
• Working knowledge of Figma and component based design
• Comfort designing for users across different countries, devices and connection speeds
• Clear written communication, and the willingness to defend a decision and then revise it when the evidence goes the other way
• A track record of clean, minimalist, modern interface work

Bonus, not required: familiarity with startup or university innovation ecosystems, or basic HTML and CSS literacy.

How we work

You will work directly with our Head of Engineering and with our Founder. Design decisions are made with the people who can act on them, not routed through layers. The audit is yours to run and yours to defend.

Terms

• Paid contract, three to six months, with a path to the permanent design lead seat for the right person
• Fully remote, OPEN TO CANDIDATES BASED IN SINGAPORE OR MALAYSIA ONLY.
