Responsibilities

Assistant Manager, Commercial Excellence


Job Description:

The incumbent will be an integral member within the Commercial Excellence team. Working closely with Product leadership team and category management team, he/she will be driving strategic agenda in areas such as:


1) Strategic Projects

  • Drive projects in line with FairPrice Group’s 2030 ambition to be Asia’s most admired retailer such as in areas of category merchandising, trade terms, business transformation, sustainability, etc
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to formulate robust recommendations and business case
  • Project manage to ensure on time in full delivery of opportunities, proactively track, highlight issues for early intervention and problem solve with respective teams

2) Supply Resilience

  • Drive supply resilience and ensure surety of supply, balancing service level, inventory and total cost to serve
  • Partner the business in prioritising, executing, monitoring and reviewing opportunities

3) Value Chain

  • Drive market insights and diagnostic of value chain to establish long range business plans and value creation for Procurement
  • Enable stakeholders to make decision with end-to-end data, establish business drivers by looking at business in totality
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to frame decision points, size business impact and create robust business plans for management decision making.
  • Project manage to ensure delivery of business plans


Job Requirement:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline:
  • Experience: 7+ years of professional experience, including a successful track record of managing direct or cross-functional teams in areas like Procurement planning, Commercial strategy or commercial transformation.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in data analytics (SQL, BigQuery, G-scripts, and Tableau).
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong grasp of the operational and commercial dynamics within Retail or FMCG.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to lead digital transformations and tech implementations using robust project management frameworks.
  • Commercial Acumen: Skilled at translating complex data into actionable commercial strategies and performance metrics.
  • Communication: Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills; confident in influencing senior leadership and navigating diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous learning.
