EMPOWERING PEOPLE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
At Howden, we employ talented individuals and empower them to make a real difference to the company, whilst building successful and fulfilling careers.
The entrepreneurial atmosphere is one of the biggest reason people love to work for us. We are a leading independent, global insurance brokers but have a noticeably flat hierarchy. It doesn’t matter how junior or senior, anyone with a good idea will be heard. This means our employees can shape their own career paths and determine their own success.
This atmosphere attracts the brightest talent in the market. If that includes you, get in touch.
The role is responsible for the management and delivery of Howden’s loss prevention and risk management services across Howden Asia’s large and complex clients, under the supervision of the Chief Client Officer, Asia. The position also involves leading and conducting prospect engineering visits where required.
For Techtronic Industries (TTI) specifically, the following responsibilities apply.
Provide dedicated technical support to TTI by accurately interpreting FM Global recommendations. This includes clearly explaining the rationale behind identified risks based on site observations, particularly where FM explanations may not be sufficiently detailed. Translate complex technical requirements into simplified, clear, and actionable steps for local business units, while considering the practicality and feasibility of recommendations.
Where appropriate, identify alternative solutions acceptable to FM Global, leveraging field engineering experience from site surveys and loss cases. Ensure practical input from local business unit teams is incorporated to support effective on‑site implementation.
Demonstrate the capability to differentiate between short‑term actions related to human or procedural elements and long‑term physical risk improvement measures. Recognise that, at times, TTI may elect to accept certain risks for business reasons rather than implement recommendations that are not feasible.
Maintain a strong site‑level understanding of factories and warehouses, supported by local knowledge that enables advice aligned with FM Global standards and applicable local regulations.
Manage FM Global’s expectations and technical positioning through effective engagement and communication. Review, challenge, and validate FM recommendations where appropriate, based on FM guidelines and practical site realities.
Provide guidance on effective engagement and response strategies when working with FM Global. Apply a sound understanding of FM standards to review and challenge any statements that may be overly conservative or misaligned.
Clearly articulate the rationale behind each identified risk using site‑based evidence. Ensure alignment with applicable local codes and regulations, or, where such standards do not exist, explain the risk from an FM hazard perspective. Where possible, reference approaches used in other FM regions to promote consistency and provide broader industry context.
Attend critical FM Global site visits as required. Act as an effective bridge between FM Global and local business unit teams, facilitating alignment, understanding, and execution.
Establish clear and consistent protocols covering site visits, communication and follow‑ups, and reporting standards. Align all stakeholders, including FM Global, Howden, and TTI, on expectations, responsibilities, and deliverables.
Assist in the hiring of risk engineers and assume responsibility for the training and development of in‑country risk engineering resources, ensuring capability and consistency across the region.
