Reporting Line

• Reporting to: Head of Projects, Overseas Business Division

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Overseas Project Director to lead store development and engineering operations across Malaysia. In this role, you will take full ownership of new outlet construction, refurbishment projects, and engineering execution from planning through to handover.

You will be responsible for managing timelines, quality, and cost while coordinating closely with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery across multiple locations.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Overseeing new store construction and renovation projects from site evaluation to completion

• Managing project timelines, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements

• Coordinating with design teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution

• Reviewing drawings, project budgets, and technical specifications for accuracy and compliance

• Leading site inspections, progress tracking, and final project handover processes

• Managing contractor performance across all project phases, including mobilisation and completion

• Supporting onboarding and training of new contractors across initial project rollouts

• Handling maintenance coordination and resolving store-related technical issues

• Monitoring operational challenges during store setup and identifying improvement opportunities

• Ensuring compliance with local regulations, approvals, and safety standards

Candidate Profile

Our ideal candidate will be one who has most of the below criteria:

• Background in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or related disciplines

• Minimum 3 years or more of experience in project management within F&B or Retail segment

• Experience managing multi-site rollout projects, ideally within chain brands or expansion-driven businesses

• Familiarity with local construction practices, contractors, and regulatory processes

• Strong understanding of fit-out works, including kitchen setup, waterproofing, ventilation, and MEP coordination

• Proficient in tools such as AutoCAD and project scheduling software

• Strong coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills

• Comfortable with travel and working in a fast-paced, expansion-driven environment
