Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Site Management

  • Plan, manage, and supervise daily site operations.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules, work programmes, and manpower deployment.
  • Ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate site activities to avoid delays, clashes, and abortive work.
  • Monitor site progress and take corrective action when works fall behind schedule.
  • Attend site meetings, coordination meetings, and client meetings when required.

2. Coordination with Clients, Consultants and Contractors

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate technical details, site access, work sequence, inspections, and handover requirements.
  • Resolve site issues promptly and escalate critical matters to management.
  • Ensure instructions from clients or consultants are properly recorded and communicated to the relevant parties.
  • Follow up on outstanding approvals, drawings, material submissions, samples, and site instructions.

3. Manpower and Subcontractor Management

  • Manage site supervisors, workers, subcontractors, and specialist trades.
  • Allocate manpower and resources efficiently based on project needs.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, safety compliance, and productivity.
  • Ensure workers understand their tasks, responsibilities, and required standards before starting work.
  • Identify manpower shortages or performance issues and report them to management.

4. Quality Control and Workmanship

  • Ensure all works are completed to the required quality and finishing standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify defects, poor workmanship, or non-compliance.
  • Arrange rectification works and ensure defects are closed promptly.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, main contractors, and relevant authorities where required.
  • Ensure completed works are protected from damage before handover.

5. Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure site works comply with workplace safety and health requirements.
  • Work closely with the Safety Officer, Safety Supervisor, or WSH Coordinator to implement safe work procedures.
  • Ensure workers comply with approved Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Permit-to-Work requirements, and site safety rules.
  • Stop unsafe work activities and take immediate corrective action.
  • Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and site hazards to management.
  • Support incident investigation and implementation of preventive actions.

6. Cost, Procurement and Material Control

  • Monitor project costs, material usage, wastage, and site productivity.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Check that materials delivered to site match approved specifications, quantities, and project requirements.
  • Avoid unnecessary material wastage, abortive work, and unplanned costs.
  • Assist in identifying variation works and provide supporting site records.

7. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain daily site records, progress reports, manpower records, inspection records, and site photos.
  • Ensure proper documentation of site instructions, delays, variations, and coordination issues.
  • Review and follow up on drawings, RFIs, material submissions, inspection requests, and approval records.
  • Provide regular updates to management on project progress, risks, delays, and key issues.
  • Assist in preparation of handover documents, as-built records, warranties, and completion reports.

8. Project Handover and Close-Out

  • Manage project completion, testing, inspection, rectification, and handover works.
  • Ensure all outstanding defects and incomplete works are properly tracked and closed.
  • Coordinate with clients and consultants for final inspection and acceptance.
  • Support final account, variation claims, and project close-out documentation where required.
