Job Summary

The Commis assists the kitchen team in food preparation and daily kitchen operations while maintaining Sofitel luxury hospitality and food quality standards. The role supports senior chefs in preparing dishes, maintaining hygiene, and ensuring efficient kitchen workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food according to recipes and standards
  • Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and sauces
  • Ensure food presentation and portion standards are maintained
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
  • Store ingredients properly and monitor stock rotation (FIFO)
  • Support senior chefs during busy service periods
  • Assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is handled safely and properly

Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts is an advantage
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred but fresh graduates are welcome
  • Passion for cooking and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Positive attitude and professional grooming
