The CAD Design Engineer plays a critical role in the engineering and construction of state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication plants (Fabs). You will be responsible for creating, modifying, and managing detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D models for complex facility systems, ensuring strict adherence to semiconductor industry standards, safety protocols, and project timelines.
1. Technical Drawing & Modeling
Develop detailed 2D architectural/structural layouts and 3D BIM models for semiconductor facility systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.
Design and route complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems, with a heavy focus on:
High-Purity Gas & Chemical Delivery Systems
Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) & Wastewater Treatment Piping
Exhaust & HVAC Systems (General, Acid, Solvent, and Scrubber systems)
Cleanroom architectural layouts and ceiling grid configurations.
Generate Isometric drawings, Orthographic views, and Bill of Materials (BOM) / Bill of Quantities (BOQ) directly from design models.
2. Design Coordination & Hook-Up Engineering
Participate in Basebuild design and Tool Hook-Up (installing manufacturing equipment) engineering phases.
Perform space management and clash detection utilizing Autodesk Navisworks to resolve spatial conflicts between different engineering disciplines (e.g., piping vs. electrical cable trays).
Incorporate Vendor Tool Installation Drawings (UTM/VID) into the master facility model.
3. Compliance & Quality Control
Ensure all drawings comply with local building codes, SEMI standards (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International), and client-specific drafting guidelines.
Maintain strict version control and drawing management standards within the company’s Common Data Environment (CDE) or Document Control system.
Conduct site walkdowns and measurements to verify existing conditions and update drawings to "As-Built" status post-construction.
4. Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Hook-Up Engineers, BIM Coordinators, and on-site Construction Supervisors to ensure design feasibility.
Attend design review meetings to present layouts and implement requested changes or optimizations.
Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a specialized Drafting/Design certification.
Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of drafting/design experience, ideally within Semiconductor Fab construction, data centers, pharmaceutical plants, or oil & gas sectors.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Revit / Navisworks (3D BIM) is highly essential.
Familiarity with industrial piping standards (ASME/ANSI) is a strong advantage.
Experience with MicroStation or Cadmatic is a plus (depending on your company's specific software stack).
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent spatial visualization, ability to work under tight project deadlines, and proactive communication skills.
