Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, supervision, and execution of electrical works for high-voltage substation projects up to 275kV. The role ensures compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements from installation through testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution

• Manage and supervise electrical installation works for substations up to 275kV.
• Oversee installation of transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, CT, PT, circuit breakers, protection panels, and control systems.
• Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Monitor project progress to meet timeline and budget requirements.

2. Technical & Design Review

• Review single line diagrams (SLD), schematic drawings, layout drawings, and protection schemes.
• Coordinate with civil team on equipment foundations and cable routing.
• Verify technical compliance with client requirements and utility standards (e.g., TNB standards – added advantage).
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting and site issues.

3. Testing & Commissioning

• Assist in testing and commissioning of substation equipment.
• Coordinate with protection engineers for relay testing and system integration.
• Ensure proper documentation for energization and handover.
• Liaise with client/consultant during FAT/SAT and site inspections.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and electrical safety standards.
• Conduct site inspections and enforce safe work practices.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and workmanship quality.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare progress reports, technical submissions, method statements, and as-built drawings.
• Support preparation of progress claims and project documentation.
• Ensure complete documentation for project close-out.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in substation projects (high voltage).
• Hands-on experience in 275kV substation projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge in:
• Transformer installation
• GIS/AIS switchgear systems
• Protection & control systems
• Cable termination & testing
• Familiar with high-voltage utility standards (TNB standards is an advantage).
• Able to interpret SLD, protection schematics, and electrical drawings.
• Willing to work on-site and travel when required.
