As a result of sustained business growth, SAESL has continued to expand its facilities and develop new capabilities for both its engine overhaul and component repair businesses. The Engine Overhaul business has the capability to service all products in the Trent engine family, this includes Trent 500, Trent 700, Trent 800, Trent 900, Trent 1000 and Trent XWB; SAESL is the only Trent engine MRO that can support all product variants. The Engine Overhaul business has the capacity to repair and overhaul over 300 Trent engines per year and it is equipped with a state-of-the-art Engine Test Facility that supports our best-in-class engine turnaround times.

Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Case Repair Cell at the SAESL Seletar Facility (SSF).

The SSF Complex Cell will be a next-generation repair cell where successful candidates can look forward to working with advanced technology and state-of-the-art automation as well as digital platforms to deliver innovative component repairs for next-generation aero gas turbine engines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reports to the CR Manager
  • Collaborate with team of Engineers and Specialists responsible for establishing new technology and capability at new extension site for Component Repairs.
  • Provide operational guidance to engineers to drive development of technology development and capability acquisition projects.
  • Represent various CR functions for technology industrialization and capability acquisition and development activities such as setting up of equipment and work areas and complying with HSE and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise and influence technology direction by providing operational vision to complement business vision
  • Monitor the development of new technologies, assess their value-add potential and applicability for adoption within Component Repair (CR)
  • Organizing, planning, managing, updating and controlling work for the cell under his control to accomplish task within specific requirement.
  • Managing & monitoring cell process carried out to ensure that all works undertaken are in compliance with airworthiness and Company’s requirements.
  • Ensuring staff under his control observe safety procedures, work safely and they are adequately equipped to do their work.
  • To lead, manage the cell to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence.
  • To exercise leadership, demonstrate vision & empower team in order to deliver the agreed CR department strategy.
  • Oversee, develop & establish cell OPM, SOP & all other related document with periodic review to maintain its currency
  • Able to implement strategies to improve performance for staff training & career development within department
  • Develop & sustain appropriate structures for decision making, communication with staff, promote positive thinking & be active in Continuous Improvement.
  • Drive capacity (machine and manpower) planning for successful project implementation.
  • Ability to use tools and implement optimum process flow.
  • Drive the implementation of new capital equipment from development of machine specifications, ordering through delivery, installation and commissioning
  • Ensuring and controlling staff regards discipline, conduct and appearance.
  • Be responsible & accountable for setting budgets & managing expenditure to meet financial year objectives
  • Comply with auditing, quality assurance & risk management procedures
  • Any other duties as assigned by his Superior
  • Set objective, strategy, budget and deliverables for team
  • All other activities that directly or indirectly impact the SQDCP metrics

Qualification / Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Material Science, Engineering or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the aviation MRO industries
  • Good knowledge in component repair processes, including Chemical Processing, CNC Machining, NDT, Shot Peening, Welding, Fitting, Surface Protection, coatings etc.
  • Possess good leadership, communication, analytical, engineering and project management skills
  • Good technical problem-solving skills, quality thinking, interpersonal skills and high adversity quotient
  • Good knowledge and ability to implement SAESL operating system is an added advantage.
  • Preferred Nadcap Coatings (CT) audit experience or thermal spray-specific qualification.
  • Exposure to additional processes like cold spray, wire arc spray, or robotic coating application
  • Familiarity with automated/robotic thermal spray cells or integrated grit-blast-to-spray lines
  • Prior work on specific engine families (e.g., CFM56/LEAP, Trent, PW4000/GTF, GE90, PW4000/GTF, GE90)
