1. Logistics Planning & Scheduling
- Delivery Coordination: Organize daily delivery schedules based on customer "Pull Signals" or Just-In-Time (JIT) requirements.
- Route Optimization: Plan the most efficient routes for company drivers or third-party transporters to ensure on-time arrival while minimizing fuel costs.
- Vehicle Allocation: Ensure the right type of vehicle is used (e.g., 3-ton vs. 10-ton trucks) based on the weight and volume of the metal parts.
2. Documentation & Compliance
- Shipping Documents: Prepare and verify essential documents including Delivery Orders (DO), Packing Lists, and Gate Passes.
- Customs & Tax (If applicable): Handle documents required for Free Trade Zones (FTZ) or Licensed Manufacturing Warehouses (LMW), such as GPB or K2 forms in Malaysia.
- System Entry: Update Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to reflect dispatched stock.
3. Inventory & Loading Supervision
- Physical Verification: Cross-check physical stock against the DO to ensure the correct part numbers and quantities are loaded.
- Packaging Integrity: Ensure metal stamped parts are packed according to safety standards (e.g., anti-rust wrapping, secure palletizing) to prevent damage or oxidation during transit.
- Loading Safety: Supervise the loading process to ensure weight is distributed evenly and safety protocols are followed.
4. Communication & Problem Solving
- Customer Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding delivery status, delays, or emergency "top-up" requests.
- Production Feedback: Communicate with the Production and Planning departments if there are shortages that might impact the delivery schedule.
- Rejection Management: Handle the logistics for rejected or returned goods (RMA), ensuring they are brought back to the factory for rework or scrap.
5. Fleet & Driver Management
- Driver Supervision: Monitor driver performance, attendance, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate regular servicing and road tax/permit renewals for the delivery fleet to avoid operational downtime.
