About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale hospital construction projects from planning through to completion. This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Malaysian healthcare and construction standards.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to deliver complex healthcare infrastructure that meets the highest quality and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Initiation
- Lead project planning activities including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Develop detailed project execution plans (WBS, timelines, deliverables)
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and engineers to finalize designs and specifications
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian building codes and healthcare regulations (CCC, BOMBA, DOSH, MOH guidelines)
Project Execution & Coordination
- Oversee daily construction activities on-site
- Manage coordination between contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings and specifications
- Monitor procurement of materials, equipment, and services
Cost Management & Budget Control
- Develop and manage project budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost control measures
- Evaluate variation orders, claims, and progress payments
- Collaborate with quantity surveyors for accurate cost reporting
Schedule Management
- Maintain and monitor the master construction schedule
- Track progress and proactively identify risks or delays
- Implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all works meet required quality and healthcare standards
- Implement QA/QC procedures and inspection plans
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian Standards (MS) and CIDB requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and authorities
- Liaise with government agencies for approvals and inspections
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders
- Manage client expectations and resolve issues effectively
Risk Management
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Manage contractual, financial, and operational risks
- Maintain proper documentation and records
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee testing and commissioning of systems (M&E, HVAC, medical gas, clean rooms)
- Ensure systems meet healthcare operational standards
- Manage defect rectification and final handover
- Ensure completion of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranties
Additional Responsibilities
- Support business and departmental objectives
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in hospital construction projects
- Strong project planning, coordination, and documentation skills
- Familiarity with hospital-specific systems (M&E, HVAC, medical gas, etc.)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong time management and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
