DESIGNATED PERSON ASHORE (DPA)

Sani Ferry Sdn Bhd is seeking a highly competent and experienced maritime professional to join our organisation as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) for our passenger vessel operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System, while managing overall shore-based operational, technical, and regulatory matters relating to vessel management.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure effective implementation and compliance of the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the ISM Code
• Serve as the primary link between vessel operations and shore-based management
• Oversee vessel registration, certification renewals, statutory compliance, and liaison with relevant maritime authorities
• Coordinate technical matters including maintenance planning, defect reporting, rectification, and corrective actions
• Monitor audits, inspections, incident investigations, and follow-up actions
• Provide operational and technical support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient passenger vessel operations
• Oversee documentation and compliance matters with Flag State, Class, and regulatory authorities

Requirements

• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in passenger vessel operations or ship management
• Strong knowledge of ISM Code, maritime regulations, and passenger vessel compliance requirements
• Experience liaising with Marine Department Malaysia, classification societies, and other relevant maritime authorities
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities effectively
