About the Roles
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer (Technical / Project) to join an industrial engineering environment in Tapah, Perak. This permanent position follows a 5-day work week (Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5.30pm) and offers a competitive salary of up to RM6,500 plus a variable bonus. The role focuses on delivering electrical engineering solutions for industrial plant projects, overseeing design, implementation, and commissioning activities within the CAPEX project cycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Analyse plant requirements within the yearly CAPEX cycle and conduct feasibility or pre-studies to develop practical technical solutions, specifications, and budgets.
- Lead and execute CAPEX projects related to electrical engineering, including overseeing installation work and supporting commissioning activities.
- Develop engineering documentation such as SLD, electrical load and layout concepts, basic and detailed designs, and shop drawings (with certain components outsourced when required).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, automation, civil, and structural specialists to ensure project alignment and integration.
- Prepare Technical Specifications and Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and review submitted proposals together with the procurement team.
- Track and manage project progress to ensure CAPEX initiatives meet schedule, cost, quality, and safety, health and environment (SHE) requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to plant operations during major maintenance shutdowns, electrical troubleshooting, and system improvement initiatives.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety-first culture across all project and operational activities.
- Contribute to quarterly forecasting by monitoring and reporting the projected cash-out for assigned CAPEX projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; qualifications in Automation or Instrumentation Engineering are considered advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience managing projects and performing electrical work in process plant environments, including design, engineering, construction, and commissioning.
- Solid understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and automation installation and commissioning for industrial projects.
- Strong electrical engineering knowledge, supported by basic familiarity with mechanics, steel structures, civil works, automation, and construction practices such as lifting and scaffolding.
- Ability to interpret and work effectively with engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in EPlan and AutoCAD.
- Willingness to work in industrial environments that may include varying weather conditions, dusty settings, and physically demanding tasks.
