Job Description

System Design and Engineering:

• Lead the design and development of solar PV systems, including system layout, electrical design, structural mounting systems, and energy yield analysis.
• Prepare detailed electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring schematics, and system specifications.
• Select appropriate equipment and materials (inverters, modules, racking, cables, etc.) for each project to meet performance and budgetary goals.
• Conduct shading analysis and energy yield forecasts using PV modeling tools like PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar.

Proposal Preparation:

• Prepare detailed technical proposals for new solar PV projects, including system design, equipment selection, and cost estimates.
• Conduct feasibility studies and energy yield assessments to support proposals.
• Develop project timelines, risk assessments, and detailed scope of work for inclusion in proposals.
• Coordinate with sales, procurement, and project management teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing in proposals.
• Present proposals to potential clients, addressing technical queries and providing expert guidance.

Project Management and Leadership:

• Oversee junior engineers and design team members in the development of detailed designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, site engineers, and contractors to ensure timely and accurate project execution.
• Participate in project meetings to provide technical input and design updates.

Compliance and Standards:

• Ensure designs comply with national and international codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, and local electrical codes).
• Ensure compliance with local grid interconnection requirements, utility regulations, and safety standards.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations for electrical loads, voltage drops, fault currents, and protective device coordination.

Performance and Optimization:

• Optimize the design to maximize system performance and minimize costs.
• Conduct technical reviews of designs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform performance analysis and monitoring of installed systems to evaluate actual energy yields and suggest improvements.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including as-built drawings, design reports, technical specifications, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
• Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, and analysis for ongoing or future projects.
• Provide technical support during the bidding and procurement process, including writing technical sections of proposals.

Technical Support:

• Provide expert guidance and troubleshooting for system installation, commissioning, and testing.
• Interface with clients, regulatory bodies (ST, SEDA), TNB, contractor, and third-party consultants for regulatory compliance, design reviews and approvals.
• Offer technical support for O&M (Operations and Maintenance) teams to resolve performance or equipment issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV design and engineering, with exposure to utility-scale projects.
• Proven experience in leading design teams and managing multiple projects.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing successful project proposals.
• GCPV certification or similar solar industry certifications is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is a plus.
