JOB PURPOSE:

• Strategize, develop, and implement the Group’s Occupational Safety, Process Safety, and Loss Prevention programs, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, regulatory standards, and corporate objectives.
• Lead initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate safety-critical risks, while fostering a proactive safety culture and promoting safety awareness across all levels of the organization.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to business units and senior management on safety risks, compliance requirements, and industry best practices, enabling informed decision-making and consistent safety performance across the organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead and drive the formulation & development of Occupational Safety and Process Safety strategy and implementation plan for MISC Group.
• Plan annual Occupational Safety, Process Safety and Loss Prevention programs group-wide and to assess the effectiveness and practices are consistent and aligned with MISC Group’s policies and 5 year plan strategy.
• Lead Occupational Safety and Process Safety study and review on critical activities for MISC Group – recognize existing & potential impacts and liabilities and to recommend suitable measures to protect MISC Group interest business and operations.
• Lead improvement activities through strengthening in-house standards and driving continuous improvement.
• Provide advisory on Occupational Safety, Process Safety and Loss Prevention to MISC Group and relevant stakeholders.
• Perform in-depth accident and incident analysis as to generate insights for management decision makings related to focused safety initiatives and loss preventions.
• Review, provide advice, participate and lead HSSE major incident investigation within the MISC Group to ensure root causes are properly identified, mitigation measures are implemented, and lessons learnt are effectively communicated.
• Keep abreast of regulations, legislations and best practices in the industry related to Occupational Safety, Process Safety and Loss Prevention for group-wide compliances and to formulate the revision of related policies and guidelines for business excellence.
• Review and verify Group’s OSH system (guidelines and practices) are consistent and aligned to the Group’s policies and adhere to relevant regulations and standards.
• Benchmark relevant risk management and best practices to maintain proactive safety management and excellence.
• Review and provide guidance to subsidiaries/operating units and/or JV partners on critical activities including monitoring improvement activities as part of risk management.
• Representing MISC Group at Safety and Loss Prevention at PETRONAS CoP (Community of Practice) – member for technical safety and process Safety.
• Participate in periodic Safety & Loss Prevention inspection and assurance program to enhance compliance to Group safety procedures and requirements.
• Mentoring of other safety professionals in MISC Group.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience, including at least 5 years in managing Operational and/or Technical Safety.
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or any HSE-related discipline.
