Role Purpose
The Data Analyst sits within the Molecular Contamination Control (MCC) business unit and supports business-led digital and analytics initiatives by organising, standardising, and maintaining high-quality data and information assets.
The role focuses on building strong data foundations that enable effective analytics, reporting, and business-facing digital tools. A significant portion of the role involves hands-on data preparation and standardisation work using Excel. This foundational work is essential to enabling reliable analytics, reporting, and business-facing digital tools across the MCC business.
The role operates within the business function and works in close partnership with IT to ensure alignment with approved platforms, governance, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Data Standardisation & Organisation
- Clean, standardise, and maintain product and commercial data using Excel and structured data repositories.
- Apply business and product knowledge to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and errors in data.
- Support the definition and documentation of product naming conventions and data standards.
- Maintain and organise business-owned information repositories (e.g. SharePoint Lists) as trusted sources of data.
- Maintain and update product description logics and ensure consistency with product descriptions used in the ERP systems
- Perform regular data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability.
- Document data definitions, naming conventions, and business rules.
- Information Enablement & Business Tools Support
- Support the configuration and maintenance of business-facing digital tools (e.g. Power Platform-based solutions) used by Sales and Commercial teams.
- Ensure the underlying data and information used by these tools is accurate and up to date.
- Assist with testing, user feedback collection, access management, and deployment activities.
- Prepare simple user guides and documentation to support adoption.
- Analytics & Reporting Support
- Support the preparation and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards based on defined business requirements.
- Assist with data preparation, validation, and basic analysis for commercial, product, or supply chain-related topics.
- Prepare visuals, summaries, and presentation materials for business stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data and information needs.
- Coordinate with IT teams to ensure solutions follow agreed standards and governance.
- Support data preparation and testing activities for broader digital or AI-related initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Business Administration (with analytics focus), Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience & Skills
- 3-5 years of experience working with business data, reports, or structured information.
- Candidate with a good understanding of products or commercial data with an interest in analytics or data - related work will be considered.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data cleaning, validation, and transformation using formulas (e.g. lookups, text functions, pivots).
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Lists to organise and maintain structured business information.
- Working knowledge of Power Apps for maintaining or enhancing business-facing apps.
- Working knowledge of Power Automate for basic workflows such as notifications and approvals.
- Basic experience with Power BI for report maintenance or simple visualisation.
- Experience with SQL is an added advantage, particularly for querying and validating data.
- Strong attention to detail and a structured, methodical working style.
