The Senior Media Specialist is responsible for developing effective, insight-led media strategies and plans that help clients achieve their business and marketing objectives. Working closely with agency teams, media partners, analytics, and implementation teams, this role translates client briefs into integrated media recommendations across channels.
The role requires strong planning fundamentals, commercial awareness, analytical thinking, and a solid understanding of the evolving media landscape. The Senior Media Specialist is expected to contribute strategic thinking, ensure planning excellence, and support the development of junior team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Media Strategy & Planning
- Develop integrated media plans aligned to client business objectives, target audience insights, and campaign goals.
- Translate client briefs into effective media strategies and channel recommendations.
- Apply audience, category, consumer, and market insights to strengthen planning recommendations.
- Ensure plans are data-driven, commercially sound, and aligned with client budgets and objectives.
2. Campaign Planning & Development
- Prepare media recommendations, channel allocations, rationale, and supporting documentation.
- Work with media owners and internal specialists to identify suitable media solutions and opportunities.
- Support proposal development, annual planning exercises, and campaign presentations.
- Ensure planning outputs are accurate, timely, and delivered to a high standard.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Build positive working relationships with internal teams, media partners, and clients.
- Participate in client meetings and planning discussions, providing planning recommendations and updates where required.
- Collaborate closely with implementation, buying, analytics, and finance teams to ensure smooth campaign execution.
4. Performance Analysis & Optimization
- Work with analytics and implementation teams to evaluate campaign effectiveness and derive actionable insights.
- Support post-campaign reporting and learning agendas to improve future planning recommendations.
5. Market & Media Intelligence
- Stay updated on media trends, consumer behaviour, emerging platforms, and industry developments.
- Maintain a strong understanding of both traditional and digital media channels.
- Identify innovative opportunities that enhance campaign performance and client outcomes.
- Share relevant industry knowledge and insights with internal teams.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in media planning, media strategy, or integrated communications planning.
- Strong understanding of media planning principles across traditional and digital channels.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable recommendations.
- Experience developing media plans, presentations, and campaign recommendations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
