Role Overview:
Managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company and its outlets. This includes maintaining
accurate financial records, preparing and reviewing financial reports, monitoring outlet performance
through POS data, and supporting management in budgeting, cost control, and decision-making. Works closely with Director of Operation, Chief Operation Officer and external accountants to ensure timely reporting, compliance with tax and audit requirements, and proper financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting, analysis and Controls
- Maintain a full set of accounts for all outlets, both online (Xero). Prepare Consolidation Income Statement Report and submit to the owner/senior management.
- Work closely with the third-party accounting vendor to prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each outlet within the group, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist the third-party accounting vendor in monitoring and reporting key financial metrics, trends, and variances, providing meaningful insights to senior management.
- Establish, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Implement and enforce financial policies, SOPs, and procedures across the restaurant group.
- Oversee cash flow forecasts, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable.
2. Outlet Financial Management
- Collaborate with DOO to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to improve outlet profitability.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to optimize operational efficiency, food cost, and overhead expenses.
3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor, analyze, and manage company cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
4. Tax Compliance & Audit Coordination
- Assist in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, including preparation of tax-related schedules and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and explanations.
- Liaise with tax agents, auditors, and relevant authorities when required.
5. Strategic Decision Support (SDS)
- Incorporates data-driven, model-driven, and knowledge-driven systems to analyze various business factors.
6. Team Leadership & Liaison
- Supervise accounting staff, manage departmental personnel matters, and act as a liaison between stakeholders, investors, and auditors.
Qualifications
- Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including experience with general ledger management, month-end closing, and preparation of financial statements.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management to support business planning and decision-making.
- Knowledge of local tax regulations, compliance requirements, and internal control frameworks, with experience coordinating audits.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems and solid skills in spreadsheet and financial modeling tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities, with the ability to interpret and present financial data clearly.
- Effective leadership, team management, and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and outlets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in a finance or accounting management role, preferably within the food & beverage, retail, or hospitality sector.
- Ability to work on-site in Kuala Lumpur and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization.
