The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.
Purpose
Drive the overall
- Customer value proposition and strategy across all of Singlife products, covering Life and Health and GI products and
- work with external partners, to drive ecosystem partnerships and
- develop customer segmentation and growth strategies
Responsibilities
- Bring together multiple product lines, to generate the overall customer proposition, based on customer needs and market trends; to drive upsell, cross-sell and new growth.
- Brainstorm & generate ideas based on research and findings from customer research, analysis, distributor feedback and complaints.
- Help drive the development of product features, benefits & their viability after considering market information such as pricing and competitiveness.
- Define, develop, and deliver future‑ready propositions across all product lines to meet evolving customer needs, market trends, and regulatory expectations. Own and execute enterprise‑wide customer segment strategies, ensuring clear value propositions, experience pathways, and commercial outcomes for priority segments.
- Develop third party partnerships and collaborative relationships to profitably grow business
- Oversee the development and delivery of annual business plans associated with Propositions and Customer Segments, including forecasting, portfolio performance, and commercial optimisation
Requirements
- Demonstrated success and experience in building and scaling go to market programs across a large number of varied partners.
- Demonstrated strong experience around analytical problem solving using extensive data, strategy conceptualization, and implementation against strategy.
- Demonstrated strong ability to communicate, navigate ambiguity and be a proactive problem solver
- Strong hunger to grow and experience growing relationship with stakeholders internally and externally
Experience
- 10-15 years of relevant experience, in Strategy/consulting or Financial Institution or other relevant field
- Strong understanding of insurance or financial institution space is highly encouraged but not mandatory
- Demonstrable experience in strategic development and successful implementation of related business strategies
- Proven track record in a leadership role and managing highly motivated teams
- Demonstrable experience in working with external partners and or managing third party relationships
Education
- Academic: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in business, finance, information technology or related fields (Mandatory)
