Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a committed, proactive, and meticulous Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of quality science education. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, well-equipped, and compliant laboratory environment that supports effective teaching and learning across both the Secondary and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Operations and Maintenance – Ensure laboratory equipment, materials, and facilities are well-maintained, functional, and ready to support practical lessons and assessments
  • Laboratory Safety and Compliance – Maintain high standards of laboratory safety through proper laboratory practices, chemical management, risk mitigation, and compliance with relevant regulations and school policies
  • Inventory and Resource Management – Manage laboratory inventories efficiently, maintain accurate records, and ensure the timely procurement and availability of equipment, chemicals, and consumables for lessons
  • First Aid and Laboratory Support – Ensure laboratory first aid supplies and emergency equipment are maintained and readily available, and support school-wide laboratory safety procedures where required
  • Administrative and General Duties – Maintain laboratory documentation and records, support laboratory-related administrative processes, and undertake other duties to support overall laboratory operations and school needs

Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a school or laboratory setting
  • Good knowledge of laboratory safety standards, chemical handling procedures, and safety practices (e.g. GHS, SDS)
  • Strong organisational, inventory management, record-keeping, and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a school environment
  • Experience supporting Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical work at the secondary level will be an advantage
  • Familiarity with IBDP Science practical requirements will be an advantage
  • Relevant qualification in Science, Applied Science, Laboratory Technology, or a related field
