Role Description

This is an internship role for a Software Tester, located in SS22, Damansara Jaya, Selangor (near Atria Shopping Gallery). We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Software Tester to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. The responsibilities include planning and executing tests, identifying and documenting defects, and working closely with the development team to resolve issues. As a Software Tester, your goal will be to guarantee that our software meets all functional and performance requirements before it is released to the market. You can expect your scope of work to be challenging and fast-paced. Hence, we are looking for someone who is inquisitive, highly logical and willing to go the extra mile to get things done. You are also required to possess a keen eye for detail for this role. 


Responsibilities

1. Test Planning and Design

  • Analyze product requirements and technical specifications to create comprehensive test plans.
  • Design test cases, scenarios, and scripts that cover all aspects of software functionality.
  • Identify test objectives, entry and exit criteria, and required resources.


2. Test Execution

  • Execute manual and automated tests on various platforms, including web, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Conduct functional, regression, performance, stress, usability, and security testing.
  • Report and track bugs using bug-tracking tools, providing detailed steps to reproduce issues.
  • Verify bug fixes and ensure software changes have not introduced new defects.


3. Collaboration

  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements and design.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
  • Provide feedback on product quality and suggest improvements in design and functionality. 


4. Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  • Document and communicate testing outcomes, including the severity and impact of defects.
  • Contribute to the development of user documentation and training materials.


5. Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging testing methodologies.
  • Propose and implement improvements to the testing process and automation frameworks.
  • Participate in peer reviews and share knowledge with team members to enhance testing practices. 


Qualifications

- Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or IT (fresh graduates welcome).

- Knowledge of software testing and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

- Familiarity with SQL and database testing, web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and APIs.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.


Additional Skills (Preferred)

- Familiarity with manual and automated testing tools.

- Understanding of performance and security testing.

- Knowledge of CI/CD tools, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and bug-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).

- Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
