About the role

HCL Technologies Malaysia SDN BHD is seeking a dedicated Data Centre Facility Engineer to join our growing team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data centre operations and infrastructure management. As a Data Centre Facility Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient and secure operation of our critical data centre infrastructure. This role is pivotal to maintaining the reliability and performance of our facilities, directly supporting the organisation's ability to deliver world-class technology services to our clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

1. Monitor and maintain data centre environmental systems, including cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal operating conditions

2. Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on critical infrastructure, including backup power systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units and generators

3. Respond promptly to facility alerts and incidents, diagnosing and resolving technical issues to minimise downtime and service disruption

4. Perform routine checks on physical security systems, access control systems and surveillance equipment to ensure data centre protection

5. Document and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, system performance metrics and facility operations

6. Collaborate with IT operations and other engineering teams to support infrastructure upgrades, equipment installations and capacity planning initiatives

7. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental standards and industry best practices within the facility

8. Participate in on-call support rotation to provide emergency response and incident management outside standard working hours

9. Assist in troubleshooting hardware-related issues and support the deployment of new technologies and equipment

What we're looking for

1. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Information Technology or a related discipline

2. Proven experience (minimum 2-3 years) working in a data centre environment or similar critical infrastructure facility

3. Strong knowledge of data centre operations, including cooling systems, power distribution, fire suppression and security protocols

4. Proficiency in monitoring and maintaining HVAC, UPS and power management systems

5. Familiarity with data centre standards and frameworks such as Tier certifications and relevant ISO standards

6. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to respond effectively under pressure

7. Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills

8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

9. Physical capability to perform duties that may include working at heights, in confined spaces and lifting heavy equipment

10. Valid driving license is desirable

11. Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or Facility Technician certifications are advantageous
