Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description QAI (Quantum AI) Pte. Ltd. is a consulting and business development firm focused on turning state-of-the-art quantum research into practical, high-impact business solutions. The company specializes in portfolio optimization, combining quantum algorithms, advanced AI, and financial expertise to deliver superior investment strategies. QAI supports financial institutions, hedge funds, and wealth managers in managing complex risk, asset allocation, and dynamic rebalancing at scale and speed. Through strategic consulting and partnerships, QAI helps organizations adopt quantum-powered solutions, build internal capabilities, and achieve sustainable competitive advantage. The team is dedicated to bridging the gap between quantum research and measurable real-world outcomes.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Quantum Algorithm/Research Lead role based in Singapore. The Quantum Algorithm/Research Lead will design, analyze, and implement quantum algorithms for portfolio optimization, risk modeling, and related financial use cases. The role involves leading research initiatives, supervising junior researchers and engineers, and collaborating with AI, software, and financial domain teams to translate theoretical advances into production-ready solutions. The person in this role will prototype and benchmark algorithms on quantum hardware and simulators, evaluate performance against classical methods, and document findings in technical reports, white papers, and publications. Additional responsibilities include engaging with clients to understand business requirements, presenting complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contributing to QAI’s long-term research roadmap and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in quantum computing and quantum information, including experience with quantum algorithms (e.g., VQE, QAOA, QUBO formulations), complexity analysis, and quantum circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience with quantum programming frameworks and tools (such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, or similar), as well as scientific computing in Python or comparable languages.
  • Background in applied mathematics, optimization, or numerical methods, with familiarity in areas like convex optimization, combinatorial optimization, stochastic processes, or machine learning.
  • Exposure to finance or financial engineering topics, such as portfolio optimization, risk management, derivatives, or quantitative trading, or strong motivation to learn these domains quickly.
  • Demonstrated research experience, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, patents, or equivalent contributions, and ability to design and execute research projects end to end.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring or managing technical teams, coordinating cross-functional projects, and driving research milestones to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Master’s or PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in quantum computing
  • Singaporeans and Permanent Residents preferred
