Responsibilities

Job Summary

The ServiceNow Administrator

SecOps is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform with a primary focus on Security Operations (SecOps). This role ensures the stability, security, and effectiveness of the ServiceNow environment while supporting vulnerability response, incident response, threat intelligence, and security case management. The administrator partners closely with Security, IT, Risk, and Compliance teams to enable efficient security workflows and maintain platform governance.

Key Responsibilities

ServiceNow Platform Administration

• Administer and maintain ServiceNow instances (DEV, TEST, PROD), ensuring availability, performance, and data integrity.

• Manage users, groups, roles, ACLs, and domain separation (if applicable).

• Monitor system health, logs, and platform performance; proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Manage update sets, instance cloning activities, and deployments across environments.

• Support ServiceNow upgrades, patches, and hotfixes, including testing and validation.

• Enforce platform governance, best practices, and ServiceNow standards.

• Maintain platform documentation, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Security Operations (SecOps)

• Administer and configure ServiceNow SecOps modules, including:

o Security Incident Response (SIR)

o Vulnerability Response (VR)

o Threat Intelligence

o Security Case Management (if applicable)

• Configure security workflows, playbooks, SLAs, and automated responses.

• Support vulnerability ingestion from security scanning tools (e.g., Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7).

• Maintain integrations with SIEM, SOAR, and other security tools.

• Ensure accurate mapping of CI data and security findings within the CMDB.

• Assist Security teams by maintaining dashboards, reports, and Performance Analytics for risk posture and remediation

tracking.

• Support audits and compliance requirements by ensuring security data accuracy and access controls.

Configuration & Automation

• Configure business rules, UI policies, notifications, scheduled jobs, and Flow Designer workflows (low-code/no-code

focus).

• Maintain catalog items and request workflows related to security access and tooling.

• Perform data imports, transformations, and reconciliation related to security tools.

• Troubleshoot and resolve integration, automation, and workflow issues.

Collaboration & Support

• Act as the primary administrator and subject-matter expert for ServiceNow SecOps.

• Partner with Security Operations, GRC, Infrastructure, and ITSM teams to support end-to-end security workflows.

• Provide Tier 2/3 support for ServiceNow SecOps issues and platform-related incidents.

• Participate in roadmap planning, continuous improvement, and platform maturity initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of ServiceNow administration experience.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow SecOps modules.

• Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform administration, roles, ACLs, and instance management.

• Experience supporting vulnerability management and security incident workflows.

• Working knowledge of ITIL and security operations concepts.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServiceNow certifications:

o Certified System Administrator (CSA) – required or strongly preferred

o Certified Implementation Specialist – SecOps – preferred

• Experience supporting integrations with vulnerability scanners and SIEM tools.

• Familiarity with CMDB and service mapping concepts.
