Responsibilities

Exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator (Db2 Specialist) Powering Next-Gen Communication Platforms


We’re looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in IBM Db2 to play a key role in supporting the backbone of our CPaaS solution.

In this role, you’ll work across AWS and/or Azure cloud-native environment, ensuring the reliability and performance of databases that power real-time communication services at scale. You’ll help to build and maintain resilient, secure and highly available global systems that keep our platform running seamlessly.

This role is perfect for someone looking to work in an international fast-paced team where teamwork, adaptability and problem-solving are the keys to success.


Please note this role is Hybrid working (3 days a week in KL office) and must Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for critical systems.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Administer, configure, and support IBM Db2 databases across production and non-production environments
  • Manage database lifecycle activities including provisioning, patching, upgrading, and decommissioning
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR/BCP) planning and testing
  • Ensure uptime and reliability aligned with SLA/SLO targets, particularly for real-time CPaaS workloads
  • Implement and maintain cloud-native database solutions, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices
  • Optimize database performance and cost efficiency in cloud environments
  • Monitor and tune database performance
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in high-throughput, low-latency systems typical of CPaaS platforms
  • Support capacity planning and scaling strategies
  • Implement database security controls including access management, encryption, auditing, and compliance policies
  • Ensure alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements (e.g., data protection, retention policies)
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop scripts and automation for routine DBA tasks
  • Provide L2/L3 support for database-related incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures
  • Work closely with application, platform, and network teams supporting CPaaS workloads
  • Provide database expertise in architecture and design discussions
  • Document operational procedures and best practices
  • Available for 24/7 on-call rotations for critical systems


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE TO SUCCEED

  • 3-5+ years of strong hands-on experience with corporate databases, particularly IBM Db2
  • Proven experience managing databases in AWS
  • Exposure to CPaaS platforms for real-time communication systems
  • Experience with PostgreSQL in cloud-native services highly regarded
  • IBM Db2 certifications highly regarded
  • Solid understanding of high availability and disaster recovery architectures
  • Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting in production systems
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or third-party tools)
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols in relation to DB connectivity and process flow from applications
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Powershell)
  • Strong understanding of incident and change management
  • Superior research and analytical skills to track and predict trends
  • Must be independent and self-directed
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with teams
  • Demonstrate high standards of performance and behaviour
