Hiring: Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Work Mode: Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days in Office)

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract (Extendable)

We are looking for a skilled Senior Database Administrator to join our Database Services team in Kuala Lumpur. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a large enterprise environment, supporting mission-critical databases while driving automation, performance optimization, and high availability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database clusters and replication environments.

• Configure and manage Barman backup solutions.

• Install and support PostgreSQL extensions such as PostGIS, pgAudit, and others.

• Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity planning.

• Implement proactive monitoring and automation to minimize downtime.

• Manage backup, recovery, archiving, vacuuming, and reindexing activities.

• Design and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

• Collaborate with application teams to assess the impact of releases, patches, and upgrades.

• Perform query optimization and database performance tuning.

• Ensure database security, authentication, and access management through LDAP integration.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

4+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience.

Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, replication, backup, and recovery.

Experience with PostgreSQL upgrades and migrations.

Good knowledge of Docker/Container technologies and database replication concepts.

Strong scripting skills in Unix/Shell Scripting and Python.

Technical knowledge of Linux and Windows environments.

Understanding of enterprise application architecture, networking, and infrastructure components.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Additional Requirements:

• Flexible to provide after-hours, weekend, and public holiday support when required.

• Able to support Pacific Region business hours (starting from 7:00 AM KL time).

• Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with at least 3 days in the office.

• Reliable transportation for office commuting.
