Job Purpose:
- As a Junior Exadata Infrastructure Administrator, you will be a part of a growing international team based in Kuala Lumpur Center mainly supporting on-premise Exadata engineered systems. We are seeking candidates with a fair knowledge on Oracle Linux, Oracle Linux configuration know‑how.
Key Activities:
- Perform day‑to‑day administration of Oracle Linux (RHEL‑compatible) servers following documented procedures.
- Assist in monitoring Exadata and Oracle Linux systems (health checks, basic performance and capacity review).
- Monitor alerts (e.g. via OEM Cloud Control), perform initial checks (CPU, memory, I/O) and escalate issues.
- Support senior engineers with patching (OS, Exadata software, firmware) by executing documented steps.
- Follow defined backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures and perform routine checks.
- Help with basic storage and network checks (disk status, interfaces, errors, dropped packets).
- Assist in installation, configuration and security patching of Oracle Linux on Exadata and KVM hosts.
- Collect logs and run predefined diagnostics for incidents; summarize findings for senior staff.
- Write and maintain simple automation scripts (Shell; ideally also Python/Ansible) for routine tasks.
- Use ILOM to check hardware status and perform system restarts following runbooks.
- Keep procedures and troubleshooting documentation up to date.
- Join an on‑call rotation after ramp‑up, with clear escalation to senior team members.
- Learn Exadata concepts and best practices with the goal of growing into a full Exadata administrator role.
Qualifications/Skills:
Essential Skills Required
Sufficient and proven experience in Exadata infrastructure administration in particular:
- Around 2 years of hands‑on experience in Oracle Linux administration
- Basic experience with Unix/Linux user and access management (users, groups, sudo)
- Familiarity with OS networking concepts and troubleshooting (interfaces, routes, basic connectivity)
- Some exposure to storage concepts (file systems, basic capacity checks)
- Ability to perform basic problem analysis using logs and standard Linux tools, and to document and escalate issues
- Scripting experience in Shell; willingness to learn Python and Ansible
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Strong motivation to learn Exadata (cellcli/dcli, cell/grid disks, ASM), InfiniBand networking and automation under guidance
Nice to have (optional)
- Experience with Linux packaging (rpm/yum/dnf) or simple Ansible playbooks
- Any exposure to Oracle Database environments or engineered systems
- Any cloud experience (e.g. Google Cloud Console)
