Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Data Centre Operations Engineer to monitor and maintain our data centre environment ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in data centre operations, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and be willing to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the data centre environment, including power supply, cooling systems, temperature, humidity, water leakage detection, and fire safety systems.
- Liaise with building management and subcontractors for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Perform capacity management by analysing resource utilization and planning for future growth.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policies, including physical access control and visitor management protocols.
- Manage backup operations, including tape management, off-site storage, and inventory control.
- Conduct daily system health checks to ensure all systems operate optimally.
- Ensure timely resolution of incidents and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain and regularly update data centre operating procedures and documentation.
Requirements:
- Willingness to work in a 24x7 rotational shift schedule, including Sundays and public holidays.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills with the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently.
- Possess relevant qualifications or certifications, minimally a Data Centre entry-level certification or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in data centre operations.
- Highly organized and able to consistently perform daily operational tasks with minimal supervision.
