To serve as primary operation database administrator responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, support, maintenance and operational stability of enterprise database platforms across multiple technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and other relational database systems within a mission critical production environment.

The role is responsible for ensuring continuous database availability, operational reliability, system performance, backup and recovery readiness, incident resolution, and adherence to operational service levels across both production and non-production environments supporting business critical applications and services.

The position requires strong hands-on operational expertise in managing multi-platform database environments under BAU operations, including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, maintenance, database health management, service request fulfilment, and support for release and deployment activities.

The role serves as a key operational support resource for incident and problem management, database operational support, service request execution, database provisioning, backup and recovery operations, performance monitoring, environment support for projects and application and operational readiness for production systems. The SME is expected to provide timely resolution for operational incidents while maintaining high service quality, operational discipline, and system stability across enterprise database ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administer, maintain and support enterprise database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle database, MySQL, PostgreSQL and other supported relational database platforms within the organization. 2. Perform day-to-day operational database administration activities across production, DR, UAT, SIT and DEV environments

3. Ensure database systems are operationally stable, available and performing within defined service level expectations

4. Manage database instance configuration, startup/shutdown activities and routine operational tasks.

5. Perform database creation, provisioning, cloning, refresh and decommissioning activities.

6. Execute routine database housekeeping and preventive maintenance activities

7. Execute and monitor database backup and recovery operations across all supported platforms

8. Perform database patching, maintenance, and minor upgrade activities across supported database platforms.

9. Perform basic to intermediate performance tuning activities involving query optimization, index maintenance, statistics updates, database reorganization, memory and storage utilization tuning.

10. Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible)

11. Work closely with infrastructure and application teams on critical deployments.

12. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort and minimize operational risk.

13. Participate in continuous service improvements and operational optimization programs. 14. Support project implementation activities requiring database operational involvement.

15. Administer, maintain, monitor and support open source databases including MongoDB, MariaDB, CocroachDB, and other supported open source and distributed database technologies withing the organization

Qualifications & Skills (including mandated licenses where applicable)

• A recognized bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems Engineering or related subjects Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related qualifications
• Minimum 8 to 10 in SQL Server, Oracle database, MySQL, PostgreSQL administration and minimum 5+ years hands on with RAC and Data Guard & SQL Always On
• Proven experience in large scale production environments, database upgrades and migrations
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels within the bank.
• High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Experience supporting multi-database environments (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL & etc)
• The following qualifications are considered as assets:
• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies e.g HCS
• Experienced with open-source databases specifically MongoDB, MariaDB, CockroachDB, Cassandra
