About The Program

The Digital IC Design Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for graduates who aspire to build a career in digital integrated circuit (IC) design and semiconductor engineering.

Participants will gain hands-on exposure to the complete digital IC design flow, including RTL design, functional verification, logic synthesis, timing analysis, Design for Test (DFT), and physical implementation using industry-standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools


Program Structure

The programme consists of 1 month of intensive technical training followed by 3 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) with a semiconductor company.

During the training phase at ASEM, Cyberjaya, you will gain practical exposure to:

  • Digital IC design methodologies and front-end design flow
  • RTL design using Verilog HDL
  • Functional verification with SystemVerilog
  • Logic synthesis using industry-standard EDA tools
  • Design for Test (DFT) fundamentals
  • Static Timing Analysis (STA)
  • Front-end low-power implementation
  • Physical implementation with ICC II
  • End-to-end digital IC design mini project
  • Professional development and industry-readiness workshops

During the 3 months OJT phase, you will work alongside experienced engineers, applying your technical knowledge to real semiconductor projects while gaining valuable industry experience.


Responsibilities

As a Digital IC Design Engineer Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard semiconductor design workflows such as:

  • Assisting in RTL design and implementation using Verilog HDL
  • Supporting functional verification and debugging activities
  • Performing logic synthesis and design optimization
  • Assisting with Design for Test (DFT) implementation
  • Supporting Static Timing Analysis (STA) and timing closure
  • Assisting in physical design implementation and design integration
  • Participating in design reviews, technical discussions, and engineering meetings
  • Preparing technical documentation and project reports
  • Collaborating with verification, physical design, and cross-functional engineering teams


Who We're Looking For

• Fresh graduates or final-year students in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines

• Strong interest in Digital IC Design, Processor Architecture, or Semiconductor Engineering

• Basic understanding of digital logic design and computer architecture

• Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog is an advantage

• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills

• Eagerness to learn semiconductor design workflows

• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
