What The Role Is

The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore.

We are looking for a suitable candidate with passion for Blast Engineering with good knowledge in conventional building designs involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structures with broad knowledge in Finite Element Method (FEM) calculations.

What You Will Be Working On

Responsibilities

The principal roles of the blast engineer are as follows:



  • Reviews external submissions for special developments and infrastructures subjected to Security-By-Design (SBD) framework under Infrastructure Protection Act (IPA), with regards to technical domains such building components against blast effects and global structural response under progressive collapse;
  • Participates in planning of security events by providing in-house technical consultancy, with regards to technical domains such building components against blast effects and global structural response under progressive collapse.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree / Master / PhD in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
  • Good knowledge in conventional building designs involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structures.
  • Either already registered as a practicing Professional Engineer (Civil) or has the intention to progress towards such accreditation, is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge in Finite Element Method (FEM) calculations.
  • At least 1 year of prior experience in blast engineering is ideal, but not mandatory. Fresh graduates are also welcomed to apply.
  • Team player with strong willingness and motivation to be trained towards developing advanced capabilities related to blast engineering.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
