Summary

You will be responsible for the efficient running of the Engineering Department in line with Hyatt brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. The Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, safety and reliability of all hotel facilities, equipment and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Position Grand Hyatt Singapore as a leading hotel by achieving Engineering operational KPIs, guest satisfaction targets and audit requirements.
• Assist in the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering Department in support of all hotel operations.
• Coordinate and communicate engineering activities with other departments to ensure timely resolution of maintenance and operational issues.
• Ensure all engineering works are carried out safely, efficiently and in compliance with hotel standards, local regulations and statutory requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities, equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in the management, organisation and control of all engineering activities.
• Lead and drive service recovery efforts related to engineering and maintenance matters impacting guests.
• Perform normal duties and any other duties assigned by the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

Engineering Operations & Maintenance:

• Supervise repair, maintenance and engineering operations in accordance with departmental standards.
• Oversee the execution and effectiveness of the hotel’s preventive maintenance programme.
• Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas and engineering systems are properly maintained.
• Monitor the condition of all operating equipment and building infrastructure through regular inspections.
• Ensure fire, life safety and security systems remain operational and compliant with regulations.
• Implement and monitor energy conservation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and sustainability performance.
• Ensure all work areas are maintained in a safe, clean and organised condition.
• Review and approve invoices, purchase requests and procurement related to technical services, equipment, machinery and spare parts.
• Manage contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, professionally and in accordance with hotel standards.
• Ensure compliance with all local building, safety, fire and engineering regulations, escalating any areas of non-compliance where necessary.
• Work closely with departmental leaders to support hotel operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering.

Leadership & People Management:

• Support recruitment and selection activities for the Engineering Department when required.
• Supervise and develop engineering associates through effective coaching, training and mentoring.
• Ensure team members maintain high standards of professionalism, grooming and attendance.
• Assist in workforce planning and preparation of work schedules based on operational priorities.
• Conduct regular performance discussions and support associates in achieving their development goals.
• Foster teamwork and collaboration across departments to support overall hotel success.
• Ensure all associates understand and comply with hotel policies, procedures, safety requirements and Hyatt values.
• Promote a positive and engaged team culture while supporting colleague experience initiatives.

Qualifications

Note: Due to Singapore's foreign worker work pass restrictions, only Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered for this position.

• Ideally with a Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering operations or maintenance management experience, preferably in hospitality, commercial buildings or facilities management.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, M&E services, preventive maintenance and engineering operations.
• Good understanding of local statutory requirements, fire life safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and contractors.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Results-driven individual with strong operational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple departments.
• Able to work independently and maintain high standards of service delivery and operational excellence.
