Job Description

Responsibilities

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (on-site/hybrid)

Experience: Minimum 2 years

Salary Range: RM 4,000 – RM 6,000 per month (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

IRGA Digital Sdn Bhd builds an end-to-end operating platform for plantations enterprises, serving customers across Malaysia, Indonesia, Africa, and the Philippines. We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us build, scale, and secure our hosting environments and cloud infrastructure as we grow across multiple markets and enterprise customers with a strong emphasis on managing and maintaining the health of our production databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure on our hosting environments including cloud (AWS) across IDSB's product suite
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support fast, reliable releases across multiple products and teams
  • Set up and manage containerisation and orchestration (Docker, ECS/EKS or equivalent)
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and reliability; set up alerting and logging (CloudWatch or equivalent)
  • Manage infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Implement and maintain security best practices — access controls, secrets management, network security, backups

Database Management & Analysis

  • Provision, configure, and maintain database infrastructure across MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments (RDS or self-managed)
  • Own backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategy for all production databases
  • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity — including query performance, connection pooling, storage growth, and replication lag
  • Perform routine database maintenance: indexing, vacuuming/statistics updates, patching, and version upgrades
  • Set up and maintain database monitoring/alerting dashboards to proactively catch performance degradation or failures
  • Analyse slow queries and work with developers to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Manage database access controls, user permissions, and audit logging for compliance and security
  • Support data migration, replication, and synchronisation across environments (staging, production, multi-country deployments)
  • Produce periodic reports/dashboards on database performance, growth trends, and infrastructure cost to support planning decisions
  • Collaborate with backend developers on schema changes, deployment of stored procedures, and release coordination to minimise downtime

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of DevOps or cloud infrastructure experience, with meaningful exposure to database administration
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, at minimum)
  • Practical experience managing MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL in production environments
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration basics
  • Working knowledge of Linux server administration
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, VPNs, security groups)
  • Basic scripting ability (Bash, Python, or SQL) for automation and reporting
  • Ability to read and reason about SQL queries and execution plans for performance troubleshooting

Good to Have

  • Experience supporting multi-tenant SaaS or ERP-style systems
  • AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate, SysOps Administrator, or Database Specialty)
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, SQL Server Management Studio, Datadog, or similar)
  • Experience working with distributed teams or customers across multiple countries
  • Familiarity with GIS/geospatial infrastructure or offline-sync architectures
  • Basic data analysis skills (e.g., building reports from database metrics using SQL or BI tools)
