Role Description The Hostel Shared Services Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya, responsible for overseeing shared services operations for student hostels.
The Hostel Shared Services Manager serves as the central governance, coordination, and operational oversight lead for all UNITAR hostel operations across the Group’s campuses and colleges.
The role is responsible for managing hostel operations across 12 locations nationwide, with an overall capacity of approximately 5,000 beds, ensuring consistent service standards, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, asset protection, and a safe and conducive living environment for students.
As a shared services function, the Hostel Shared Services Manager will establish common policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), reporting structures, and performance standards while working closely with campus hostel teams, Facilities, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Student Services, and external service providers.
This role manages day-to-day hostel administration, billing coordination, and compliance with hostel policies and safety standards. The manager coordinates and optimizes shared services such as housekeeping, maintenance, security, and utilities, ensuring service quality and cost efficiency. The role involves monitoring financial and operational data, preparing reports, and implementing process improvements to enhance resident experience and operational performance. The manager also collaborates with internal departments and external vendors, handles escalated tenant issues, and leads hostel operations staff to maintain a safe, supportive, and well-managed living environment for students.
