Responsibilities

Role Description The API Developer role at Drone Wars Podcast is a part-time hybrid position based in Singapore, with flexibility for some work from home. In this role, the developer will design, build, and maintain APIs that integrate podcast content, analytics, and external platforms, ensuring reliable data flow between internal systems and third-party services. Day-to-day tasks include implementing secure endpoints, optimizing performance, troubleshooting integration issues, and collaborating with producers and technical staff to support new features. The API Developer will document API specifications, monitor usage and reliability, and contribute to improving the overall technical architecture that supports the podcast’s digital presence.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in API design and development (RESTful or GraphQL), including creating and maintaining secure, well-documented endpoints.
  • Proficiency with one or more modern programming languages commonly used for backend services (such as Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Go, or similar).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (relational or NoSQL) and data modeling for efficient API integration.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms or hosting environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and related deployment tools or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices for APIs, including handling sensitive data and rate limiting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug integration issues across multiple systems and environments.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in media, podcasting, or working with analytics and content delivery systems is beneficial but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid setup in Singapore, with the ability to manage time and responsibilities in a part-time schedule.
