We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (Level 2) to provide technical support and ensure the stability, availability, and performance of business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting applications built on modern technologies, including Node.js, React, MSSQL, and AWS Cloud services.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve production issues, support cloud-hosted applications, perform database troubleshooting, and contribute to continuous service improvements while adhering to IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 application support by investigating and resolving incidents escalated from the Level 1 support team within agreed service levels (SLAs).
- Troubleshoot application, database, and infrastructure issues to ensure system availability and optimal performance.
- Analyze and resolve database-related issues using Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including data validation, troubleshooting, and data fixes where required.
- Monitor, configure, and support applications hosted on AWS services such as EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.
- Perform log analysis, system monitoring, and automation tasks using Linux/Unix and shell scripting.
- Collaborate with software development teams to resolve application defects and support production deployments.
- Support REST APIs, microservices, and containerized applications in production environments.
- Follow IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, technical solutions, and operational processes to support knowledge sharing.
- Participate in on-call support and provide after-hours support when required.
- Contribute to technology modernization initiatives, including cloud migration, platform automation, and system upgrades.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Application Support or Production Support.
- Experience supporting REST APIs and applications developed using Node.js and React (Next.js/Nest.js).
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with microservices architecture and containerized environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services, including EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including writing SQL queries and troubleshooting database issues.
- Experience working with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting (e.g., Bash).
- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and ITIL best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud migration and platform automation initiatives.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in a production environment.
- ITIL Foundation certification is an advantage.
