JOB DESCRIPTION

• Design and review relational database schemas for MariaDB across all ICX modules including CRM, Billing System, Customer Portal, Field Service Management, and Smart Metering, ensuring normalisation, referential integrity, and performance optimisation
• Design ClickHouse table schemas, data models, and materialised views for ICX reporting, billing analytics, and customer consumption dashboards
• Conduct query performance tuning across MariaDB and ClickHouse, including EXPLAIN plan analysis, index design, query rewriting, and partitioning strategies for large tables
• Configure and manage MariaDB high-availability topologies including Galera Cluster or primary-replica replication, ensuring RPO and RTO targets are met
• Configure and manage ClickHouse replication, sharding, and data distribution for the analytical layer
• Implement and manage database backup and recovery procedures, conducting regular recovery drills to validate backup integrity and RTO compliance
• Manage database user accounts, roles, and access control policies in alignment with the principle of least privilege and PDPA data access requirements
• Support the Data Migration team by designing staging database schemas, validating migration scripts, and performing post-migration data quality verification
• Collaborate with Development Leads to review ORM-generated queries, stored procedures, and batch job SQL for performance and security compliance
• Manage database version upgrades, patch management, and security hardening for MariaDB and ClickHouse instances on Azure
• Monitor database performance metrics using Azure Monitor, Percona Monitoring and Management, or equivalent, and proactively resolve performance degradation
• Produce database administration runbooks, maintenance procedures, and handover documentation for the client IT team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 8 years of database administration experience with at least 5 years in a senior DBA role managing production databases for enterprise applications with high transaction volumes
• Expert-level proficiency in MariaDB administration including schema design, performance tuning, replication, Galera Cluster, and backup/recovery
• Proficiency in ClickHouse including table engine selection (MergeTree family), materialised views, replication, and analytical query optimisation
• Advanced SQL skills including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, stored procedures, and performance-oriented query design
• Experience with database high-availability architectures and disaster recovery planning
• Strong understanding of database security best practices including encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control, and audit logging
• Experience with database monitoring tools such as Percona Monitoring and Management, Grafana, or Azure Monitor
• Proficiency in database backup tools and strategies for both transactional and analytical databases
• Experience supporting large-scale data migration projects including data validation, transformation verification, and cutover coordination
• Working knowledge of Azure managed database services or self-managed database deployments on Azure VMs
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerised database deployment and management
• Experience in billing, utility, or financial services database environments with large transaction volumes is strongly preferred
