Our client is a fast-growing, lithium-ion battery manufacturer expanding its state-of-the-art production facility in Serendah, Selangor. As part of this growth, they are looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer to keep the plant's smart systems, automation, and security infrastructure running at full strength.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the plant's front-line support for ELV and automation systems — monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and keeping equipment running reliably day to day.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on Siemens-based PLC platforms (S************* / S************* SMART series), and fine-tune system settings to improve uptime and efficiency.
- Set up, calibrate, and service field instrumentation such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and flow-rate sensors used across production areas.
- Look after the facility's card access and door control infrastructure, including controllers, readers, electric strikes/locks, and associated network links.
- Take on smaller electrical works as needed — extending cable runs, adding new points, or adjusting existing circuits within the workshop and plant floor.
- Get involved early on new facility and building projects: reviewing electrical/ELV drawings, following up on-site installation progress, and running testing & commissioning before handover.
- Act as a liaison point between internal teams (Electrical, Building Automation/BMS, IT) and external vendors or contractors on both routine work and project deliverables.
- Keep documentation current and audit-ready — I/O schedules, as-built wiring diagrams, commissioning reports, and maintenance history.
- Respond to ad-hoc technical requests on-site and take on additional duties assigned by the Engineering/Facilities lead.
- Follow the site's EHS guidelines at all times and take part in related briefings, drills, or training sessions.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree holder in Electrical Engineering, Automation, ELV, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years in a similar plant-based or facilities engineering role, ideally with some involvement in installation or upgrade projects.
- Practical exposure to Siemens PLC platforms — comfortable reading ladder logic, checking live status, and pinpointing faults without heavy supervision.
- Working knowledge of common industrial sensors/instruments, from setup through to calibration and basic fault-finding.
- Prior hands-on work with access control hardware — installation, wiring, or troubleshooting.
- Understands structured cabling fundamentals (Cat5e/Cat6 copper, LC/SC fiber terminations).
- Genuinely hands-on and independent — equally comfortable fixing something on the floor today and supporting a small project next week.
- Confident using English as the primary working language across documentation, vendor coordination, and internal meetings.
- Dependable, adaptable, and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Prior exposure to Building Automation (BA/BMS) or SCADA platforms.
- Background working within factory facilities operations & maintenance teams.
- Basic IT networking familiarity — switch config, IP schemes, VLAN segmentation.
- Has been part of a new-build or facility expansion project before.
- Based in or able to commute to Serendah, Selangor.
