Job Description

Responsibilities

We are partnering with an established international commodity trading company to identify an experienced Operator to support its growing petroleum trading operations. This role will be responsible for managing the full post-fixture execution of Naphtha cargoes, ensuring smooth coordination between internal stakeholders and external counterparties throughout the transaction lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Execute end-to-end physical cargo operations for Naphtha trades, from trade confirmation through to final settlement.
  • Coordinate closely with traders, chartering teams, counterparties, inspection companies, terminals, vessel owners, brokers and port agents to ensure timely and efficient cargo execution.
  • Monitor cargo schedules, vessel movements, loading and discharge operations, and proactively resolve operational issues.
  • Review and administer commercial contracts, including sale and purchase agreements, charter parties, letters of credit and shipping documentation.
  • Prepare, verify and manage all operational documentation, including Bills of Lading, Certificates of Quality/Quantity, cargo manifests and invoices.
  • Liaise with internal departments including Trading, Risk, Finance, Credit and Demurrage teams to ensure accurate trade execution and timely settlement.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance with operational procedures, company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Track operational costs, freight exposure and voyage expenses while supporting invoice verification and reconciliation.
  • Manage operational exceptions, claims and disputes, working closely with relevant stakeholders to achieve timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate trade and shipment records within the company's trading and operations systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and strengthen internal processes and controls.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, Logistics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of cargo operations experience within an oil & gas or commodity trading house.
  • Proven hands-on experience handling Naphtha cargo operations; exposure to other clean petroleum products would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of physical oil trading operations, shipping processes, Incoterms, Letters of Credit, shipping documentation and trade settlement.
  • Familiarity with charter party terms, voyage operations, laytime and demurrage processes.
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across internal and external parties.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment while managing multiple cargoes simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with commodity trading and risk management systems would be an advantage.
