Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities, cost estimates, budget analyses, and tender comparison reports in a timely manner.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contract documents, and scope of work for measurement and costing purposes.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of progress claims, interim valuations, variation orders, and final accounts.
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations, prepare tender comparisons, and support subcontractor appointment.
  • Verify subcontractor progress claims, work done, variation claims, back charges, and final accounts.
  • Monitor project cost, committed cost, projected cost, and cost-to-complete against the approved budget.
  • Identify cost risks, contract exposure, claims opportunities, and potential commercial disputes.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, consultants, clients, and subcontractors on cost and contract matters.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, claim status reports, VO status reports, and commercial updates for management, and submit VO claims in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper records of measurements, site instructions, confirmation of verbal instructions, claims, correspondence, and supporting documents.
  • Assist in contract administration, including notices, extensions of time, loss and expense claims, and contractual correspondence.
  • Support project closure by preparing final accounts, settlement documents, and handover-related commercial records.


Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience for QS role; fresh graduates may be considered for Junior QS.
  • Experience in pre-contract and post-contract QS functions will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of measurement, costing, tendering, claims, VO, subcontractor administration, and final accounts.
  • Familiar with construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and site measurement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD measurement, and QS-related software where applicable.
  • BQSM registration or pathway towards professional registration is an advantage.
  • Good negotiation, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • High integrity, accountability, and discipline.
  • Good stakeholder management with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities, and internal teams.
