About the role

We are seeking a customer-focused Application Support Engineer with strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. This role is critical in ensuring the high availability, performance, and continuous improvement of supported systems. The ideal candidate thrives in a productive environment, demonstrates strong technical expertise, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to customer sites on a rostered basis, either remotely or at a customer’s premises. (Example onsite roster shifts: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM; 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
• Provide on-call standby support outside of normal rostered hours, including public holidays.
• Support customer operations by starting, monitoring, and controlling SSI Schaefer software and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication on issue status and resolution.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents to restore normal system operations promptly.
• Continuously assess the performance of the SSI Schaefer software and equipment to maintain the parameters and standards of its operation and to assist in making corrections and improvements.
• Maintain and support hardware and software systems, including upgrades and patch deployments.
• Assist with the training to team members and apprentices within your area of expertise.
• Update and contribute to the online knowledge base.
• Investigate and resolve problem tickets.
• Identify, propose, and coordinate system enhancements, including functional improvements and software fixes.
• Deliver minor change requests, including configuration updates and minor code modifications.
• Conduct release testing for application updates and patches, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Deploy patches to customer environment as needed.
• Ability to travel within APAC-MEA regions as required.

About you

Knowledge, abilities and experience

• High analytical and customer management skills
• Strong documentation skills
• Strong in SQL (Oracle, Microsoft)
• Strong JAVA skills (demonstrated proficiency in Java programming with experience in diagnosing and resolving minor to major technical issues swiftly)
• Proficient in Unix/Linux, network concepts, GIT/CVS/SVN/Bdeploy, Waterfall & Agile methodologies
• ISTQB certification preferred (testing methodology)
• Able to generate quality technical documentation as required
• Knowledge of warehouse management processes and automation highly preferred
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to both internal and external stakeholders

Education, certification and qualifications

• Information Technology / Computer Science degree or equivalent
• Fluent in written and oral English
